How This Story Came To Be
In 2017 the doorbell rang and a stranger announced he was looking for Denise Hurd. To further the mystery, he stated he was sent by my father who died in 2009. This stranger turned out to be Mark Bando, the well-known historian for the 101st Airborne Division. He was sent by my father with instructions to share his WW II experiences with me after his death. Although I had interviewed my Dad in 2004 to capture his WW ll memories, there were stories that he could not tell, but wanted me to know. These stories are included in the Man With a Hollow Chest.
